The ALS Group founder Albert Sica leads the firm’s efforts to provide C-level leaders with the desperately-needed and unbiased third-party expertise they require to bring their most urgent risk-management and insurance issues under control. Al brings more than 25 years of experience to his role, combining the strategic vision of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) with decades of hands-on experience implementing strategies at the tactical level, working with executive leaders and front-line operational managers alike, bringing needed change management to risk-exposed organizations trapped in old-game paradigms.
As Managing Principal, Al manages The ALS Group’s client relationships, fostering long-term, collaborative partnerships that allow us to provide flexible, personal attention—while crafting solutions that deliver the greatest return on our clients’ investment.
Al’s professional experience spans numerous verticals and geographies across the globe, including real estate, construction, retail, manufacturing, distribution, private equity/venture capital, M&A due diligence, and Public/Private Partnerships (P3). He routinely supports clients with risk and coverage analysis, including OCIP vs. CCIP evaluations, broker RFPs, and enterprise-wide risk assessments.
A respected author and dynamic speaker, Al is routinely sought as a presenter before professional organizations desiring to learn from his unique “three-dimensional” perspective of risk management.
Al is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriters Society and holds a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation.
In the rare moments when he’s not working (The ALS Group responds to client needs on a 24/7 basis), Al is an avid golfer and hockey fan. He enjoys spending time with his wife of more than 30 years and his son and daughter.
Since joining the Firm in 2009, Nick has been providing risk management advice to the Firm's largest real estate and construction clients. He is part of The Firm's Senior Leadership Team and plays a pivotal role in ensuring our clients are afforded innovative, sound and commercially reasonable solutions to their risk related issues.
During his tenure at The ALS Group, Nick has worked with clients in various industries including real estate, construction, retail, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution and Public/Private Partnerships (P3).
Nick holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business and a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist designation.
Irina brings more than 25 years of management and administrative experience to her role as the head of strategic planning and administration at The ALS Group, where she has worked since 2010. Irina has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and provides critical input in all aspects of client engagement and firm strategy.
A natural at numbers (she’s the daughter of a mathematics professor and studied calculus in fifth grade), her prior experience includes serving with the head of the Information Systems Division of Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York; she has also assisted senior executives at companies such as UBS and Lazard. Irina has played an integral role in several prominent financial transactions, including one of the largest deals ever consummated in the orthopedic industry.
Raised and educated in Europe, Irina is fluent in several languages (including Russian and Ukrainian), which helps The ALS Group to serve its diverse international clientele.
Irina has been married for more than 30 years and has one son. She and her husband are long-time residents of New Jersey.
An IT and cyber-risk specialist, Jonathan Edwards spearheads The ALS Group's efforts to help its clients manage and mitigate the diversity of technology-based risks which are proliferating across the business landscape. Jon has been with The ALS Group for fifteen years, having begun his tenure maturing and maintaining the firm's technology infrastructure.
Jon also leads the Vendor Insurance and Compliance Management Team which works with our clients' design professionals, vendors, subcontractors, and tenants to ensure they carry insurance that meets their contractual requirements. He continues working on maturing the technology platform that The ALS Group utilizes to ensure vendor compliance.
One of the Jon's many contributions to the success of ALS is successfully migrating the firm to a secure cloud workspace, simultaneously enhancing resiliency and security while affording ALS Group associates the ability to respond to client needs from any location, at any time, with just an Internet connection, bolstering the firm's 24/7 responsiveness. Jon is also a prolific author on the subject of technology security, as can be seen in many of his recent blog posts.
Jon is a Lexis Nexis Time Matters specialist. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John's University and a Cybersecurity certificate holder from Rutgers University.
A Staten Island native, Jon is an avid New York Rangers fan and enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and dog. He plays guitar, loves Star Wars, and often trains at his family's martial arts academy.
Jessica's extensive management experience comes from her 10 year tenure in the Retail sector where, she has helped, both, large and small teams achieve their best performance potential.
In her current role Jessica is pivotal in driving the performance of the ALS team. In addition to that, she organizes fun events for the staff and is the driving force behind finding the right initiatives for The ALS Group to give back to the community as a firm. Mrs. Aviles spearheaded and now oversees ALS' intern program to support a "grow your own" staffing model for entry level candidates looking to start their career in Risk Management.
Jessica went to college in New York and has a degree in Fashion Business. She was raised in Staten Island, where she continues to reside with her husband and daughter Mia.
